A calmer drawer in 20 minutes

Choose a drawer you use daily. Empty it onto a towel so small parts stay visible. Before buying an organizer, sort its contents into three groups: used here, used elsewhere, and ready to leave.

Measure before you rearrange

Measure the inside width, depth, and height. Check the clearance beneath the surface above it. A shallow tray that lets the drawer close freely is more useful than a tall organizer that catches.

Give the busiest items the easiest reach

Put daily tools near the front and occasional items behind them. Small boxes you already own can separate batteries, tape, and spare fittings. Label any unfamiliar hardware before storing it.

Make the arrangement earn its place

Use the drawer for a week, then adjust it. If an item keeps ending up on the counter, its assigned spot may be inconvenient. Keep sharp tools protected and batteries away from loose metal.
